Ich bin in Deutschland verloren

31 August 2006

Greetings From D.C.

Hey, y'all!!! Last post in English (I hope). I'm in Washington D.C. currently, staying at a FOUR HUNDRED DOLLAR A NIGHT HOTEL (it's really not thaaaat great, I swear), and leaving for our wunderbar Deutschland TOMMORROW. I've thus far visted many places in D.C., including Tom Allen's office (his rep was really nice), the library of Congress (talk about big), the Germany Embassy (wicked cool), several monuments (and the White House), as well as the Holocaust (yeah, I know it's not spelled right) Museum. The Museum was an incredibly intense, difficult place to tour. It was almost completely silent, except for the sounds of the tapes and videos and voices they had (there was a whole room where you'd just sit and listen to survivors recount their stories) and almost made me cry. It really made me upset with the world too, about not doing anything, and made me think of Darfur and all that's going on there. It's a place everyone needs to visit if they can.

Anyways, that's the news so far. Tomorrow I leave for Germany--yay! I'm really excited. Hopefully I'll post there too!

Spelling doesn't count in a blog (though you spelled it just fine)!
